How to Find Articles

• The best way to find the MOST relevant articles for your research is to use our databases.
• Here you will find citations for articles, as well as some full-text articles.
• If you do not see the full-text online, ask the library staff for help in obtaining the text. It is often a two-step process – everything you need is not automatically available via computer.
• When on campus you no longer need a username and password for EBSCO databases, FirstSearch Databases, New Catholic Encyclopedia, Oxford suite of databases, EBSCO A-Z locator tool and the Collegeville Digital Library.
• When off campus you will need a username and/or password for the EBSCO databases, FirstSearch Databases, New Catholic Encyclopedia, Oxford suite of databases and the Collegeville Digital Library.
• Contact library staff for log-in instructions.

Visit and use the online version of Encyclopaedia Britannica

The online version of the encyclopaedia contains the core content of the print version, plus frequent updates and topical articles,  eBooks, "this day in history,"famouse quotations, and many other useful features.

• Oxford Biblical Studies Online : providing access to six essential Oxford editions of the Bible (Catholic Study Bible and Lectionary included) alongside commentary and annotations from other study Bibles seamlessly combined with reference material and primary texts.
  • To Access: Click on the name of the database above to reach the welcome page.  Search by using the drop-down menus along the top of the page or click on any link of interest on the welcome page.

• Oxford Bibliographies Online :  focused, discipline-based annotated subject lists designed to identify reliable sources of information for your research (Citations only/Not full text).
  • In-depth search capability is available for the “biblical studies” subject area.  For all other subject areas, an Introduction, General Overview and a list of Textbooks are provided.
  • To Access: Click on the name of the database above to reach the welcome page.  Either click on the browse button for a listing of all entries or enter your query in the search field using a keyword or phrase within your selection.

• This most current edition includes recent supplements on Science and the Church and Modern History and the Church, in addition to the John Paul II Jubilee Volume.

• Here you can find citations for articles as well as full text for some articles.
• To Access on campus: Click on the above link to the startup page (“FirstSearch online reference”).  On the left side of the page click on the second button “Log on via IP recognition”.  You will then directed to the search page where you can select one of the databases listed below.
• To Access off campus: Click on the above link to the startup page (“FirstSearch online reference”).  On the left side of the page click on the first button “Log on to FirstSearch” Enter the authorization number and the password that is supplied by the library.  You will then be directed to the search page where you can select one of the following databases listed below.
