Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need my own personal username and password for the computer?
Answer: If you want to use one of the seminary’s student computers for general searching, word-processing, etc., when you are in the seminary building, you need a logon specific to you. These personal logins are issued through the Academic Office. If you are using your own laptop, you do not need a special logon to access our wireless network.
Do I need a username and password to search the seminary library’s online catalog?
Answer: NO. Anyone can search the seminary library catalog at any time. Start at the seminary home page (click on Library – Online Catalog) . The URL for the catalog is: http://sem.waldo.kohalibrary.com/
Why do I see “Log in to your account” when I go to the online catalog?
Answer: This is an option built into the catalog. If you choose to use this log in feature, it allows you to renew books, reserve books, “tag” items with helpful subject headings, create and save your own personal lists, etc. We recommend this. The first time you log in, you must enter your library card barcode as your login, and your last name as the “password.” After that first time, you can change the login to something that is easier to remember.
How about when I want to search for articles and citations in the EBSCO products like ATLAS and CPLI, etc. ? Do I need a special logon?
Answer: YES and NO.
- In general, when you are on campus, most of our online resources use IP recognition, with no user name or password required.
- When off campus, however, you will need to log in. Refer to separate handouts describing access to our online resources, or contact the library staff for login or registration information.
* Use of EBSCO databases and New Catholic Encyclopedia are restricted to registered students.
